I've never done any form of training with Tom but decided to take him out on a training session with his best buddy Flynn. After watching Flynn retrieving both the cock and hen pheasant I decided to see if Tom had taken any inspiration from his friend. Much to my utter amazement he happily ran out and picked up the cock pheasant and retrieved it very gently to hand and then when asked ,without hesitation, went back out on command and picked up and retrieved the hen pheasant. Next step...getting him to sit!!!
A very out of coat Tom. This picture was taken when he was 15 months old and going through his first real coat cast. I think it still shows his very nice shape.
The above picture was taken when Tom was just over 12 months old
Tom taken at just over 13 months old where he's beginning to lose his coat in the middle of his back. Don't you just wish you could stick bits back in places and take bits out in others!! He will now have a bit of a rest from the show ring whilst I concentrate on the shooting season.
Thanks Becky for this lovely picture.
Tom winning Best Puppy @ the Golden Retriever Club Of Northumbria Championship Show
The judge Mrs Anne Woodcock wrote in her critique
"Neil's Moloko Pure Dead Brilliant, very aptly named, I really fell for this young boy & what a super day he had, culminating in gaining his final points for his JW & well deserved. He caught my eye at his first shows at six months & has gone from strength to strength, if he continues in this vein, he surely has a great future. Beautifully made dog when viewed from any angle with his balanced, elegant, clean construction, moved with drive & extension, well handled to advantage"
